Project Nobleman: dedication of Statue of Gandhi on UNF campus.
Some have called the Project as a conscious arising movement. Some
have called it a noble cause. Some have said we need it today to create
awareness. Some have simply said it is a Monument that must be built
,and built by now.
Statue is a symbol. The symbol is a conventional representation of a
concept, an idea.
An idea is a spring of conscious purposeful energy.
All ideas are comprehended easily, comfortably , naturally and
Symbolically.
Symbol can be an image or a detail of an image.
An artifact prompts the understanding and meaning of the concept more
vividly.
In essence the symbol is something that points beyond itself.
Symbols are complex because they have different meanings that change
as they are explored. Symbols speak to people in much the same way as
they speak with each other.
Symbols have power and are alive with meaning.
The personal meanings and interpretations evolve to reflect the
evolution of the individual. Human beings have the ability to explore
the relationship between ideas, things, concepts , qualities and
images that makes the underlying understanding of the Idea more implicit to
them.
The idea herein is practice of Truth, Nonviolence, Compassion and
Peace.
The idea may motivate a few. The few motivated may make a difference
to the whole World. The project is International in touch but personal
in meaning.
The message is clear and the impact of the Project is profound.
"My life is my message". Gandhi
